Cardlay A/S is a Danish FinTech startup, founded in 2016 and based in Denmark.

Through its innovative Payment cards management and Expense management platform, Cardlay provides added value to its customers worldwide (banks, companies, and their cardholders) through real-time overview of transactions, and expenditures, complete visibility and optimization in all processes.

BUSINESS MODEL USED

Seavus’ team is included in the full product life cycle development, from backlog planning, analysis, implementation, environment setup, deployment, and integration of the product, using full Scrum agile processes.

The team delivered the initial version of the product as fixed price project, and then continued with Time & Material agile model more suitable with the continuous growth and features enhancement of the platform. Also, to satisfy the extensive system security and high-availability requirements, Seavus provided Managed Services (Operations and Support) to the Client.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Cardlay needed to minimize the product time-to-market with optimal budget costs, without sacrificing the key features that represent the unique business value of the product. This required high development productivity, agile way of work, and tight collaboration between teams in different locations.

The platform's architecture needed to be designed as scalable with microservices, and fully PCI DSS compliant to meet the highest security standards for data protection.

CLIENTS BENEFITS

The first version of the platform became operational and first customers were on-boarded in only 5 months of the project start.

Within the following 6 months, the production environment was PCI DSS level 1 certified, enabling the Client to further enlarge its customer base through cooperation with large companies and banks. As the architecture supports scalability, the platform is constantly being upgraded with new features and modules.

BUSINESS SOLUTION

Seavus delivered a single integrated software platform for:

  • Management and issuing of physical and virtual prepaid cards
  • Transactions and balance real-time monitoring
  • Detailed expense mapping and management
  • Expense monitoring, reports, and dashboards for corporate clients
  • Integration with banks, accounting systems, etc.
The solution is a multi-tenant, cloud-based platform with high services availability, automated scalability, and implemented security measures to enable it to become PCI DSS certified. The product development team engaged 8-12 people (Scrum master, Solution architect, Java developers, UI developer, QA engineers). The work was performed off-site (nearshore) with lower costs for the Client, still having all deliverables produced on time and with the desired quality.
