Safety systems in industrial machinery have improved over the past years, but accidents still occur with unacceptable frequency. In most parts of the world, there are safety directives that define the common minimum requirements for health and safety of work equipment and machinery. All new work equipment, before is deployed and brought into use, must comply in terms of design and construction with these directives. The objective of this paper is to examine the use of a system based on the NXP LS1021A into industrial safety systems that not only address safety and security but also increases the whole system productivity. As well as the theoretical approach, this paper describes the application of the proposed system in the emulated environment of a model overhead crane.
