Seavus Group took part in the worldwide initiative “Girls in ICT” and hosted a group of young students from local schools, to share with them the career opportunities in ICT

“ICTs play a catalytic role in creating opportunities for people in every walk of life, while providing the framework for long-term sustainable development for everyone”, says Dr. Hamadoun I. Touré, ITU Secretary-General.

This year, on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, we are determined to harness the full potential of ICTs for the benefit of women and girls by eliminating gender disparities and empowering them to meet their goals and aspirations. The theme of this year’s WTISD, “Women and Girls in ICT”, aims to ensure that this significant, female half of the world’s population will march forward as equals.

At the “Girls in ICT Day” events girls and university students are invited to spend the day at the offices of ICT companies and government agencies so that they could have a better understanding of the opportunities the ICT sector holds for their future. Seavus Group took part in this worldwide initiative and hosted a group of girls, young students from local schools, to share with them the career opportunities in ICT. They had a discussion with Seavus ladies who shared their experience and career in ICT.

“Women are the bedrock of our societies. They are the pillars of strength in every family and community”, says Mrs. Olivera Gegovska, HR Manager at Seavus Group. “The ICT sector in particular can pave the way by providing avenues of advancement for professional women at the highest echelons of decision making and by encouraging young women to seek new careers within the sector”, adds Mrs. Gegovska.

27% of employees in Seavus are women and many of them are on high managerial positions.
